New Hampshire Community Planning Grant Program

December 06, 2012 at 11:08 AM

New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority announces Grant Round 2 in the Community Planning Grant (CPG) Program.  Over $500,000 is available for competitive matching grants to New Hampshire municipalities.  The CPG Program is operating in tandem with Granite State Future, and through it we hope to see many great local planning ideas work their way up into regional plans statewide.

Municipalities are eligible to apply for grants of up to $30,000 to provide technical assistance in revising local land use regulations; inter-municipal applications for grants of up to $50,000 will also be accepted.  Special funding allocations are being made for communities that want to create neighborhood heritage districts or to adopt inclusionary zoning ordinances.

Round 2 grant applications are due on February 12, 2013.

Grant writing workshops will be held on January 7 from 9 – 11am at the Local Government Center in Concord and on January 9 from 3 – 5pm at North Country Council in Bethlehem.  For information about the workshops and to download grant application materials, please visit the NH Citizen Planner Collaborative at www.nhcitizenplanner.org.  You can also contact CPG Program Administrator Ben Frost directly at bfrost@nhhfa.org or (603) 310-9361.

If you want to be informed of CPG Program updates, please email Ben with “CPG Updates”  in the subject line, and he’ll add you to the distribution list.

New Hampshire Housing is one of 27 state and local agencies to be awarded a share of $28 million in grants through HUD’s Community Challenge Grant program, which aims to reform and reduce barriers to achieving affordable, economically vital and resilient communities.  New Hampshire Housing’s work on this program is advised by a steering committee consisting of public agencies and non-profit organizations representing a diverse range of interests.  In CPG Round 1, 21 grants were made totaling over $540,000 for a diverse array of projects, including corridor analyses, infill and mixed use overlays zoning, form based codes, and accessory apartment standards.
